A Day at the Office
A few cell-phone videos taken, on what was yet another very eventful day at work.
Lavender Eve
Derived from a photo that I captured at 3 o`clock one July morning, in Toronto. I accompany most of my photographs with a story, poem or song describing the reasons behind why I was in that place, at that time. This is a reading of the story surrounding Lavender Eve.
Building the Barn
I was young when I had seen the film "Witness" for the first time. Harrison Ford gave an epic performance as a Baltimore detective, pent on bringing his partner's killer to justice. He was hiding out among an Amish community. It was then that I had first heard Maurice Jarre's "Building the Barn". It has been in my heart ever since, to such a degree that I recorded this at home, during the dead of winter. Armed with my guitar, a 5 dollar mic and a rabid desire to create, my mind was stretched during the process. The result of my experiment is an homage to Maurice Jarre's wonderful work, in string. I finally decided to try and blend together what I had and share them with you here. I married it with a slideshow of my photos, taken during the past few years of my life. My inspiration for doing this stems from the results of good people coming together. Today happened to be the date that many people and communities were finally able to stop the Highland Group from opening an earth killing mega-Quarry in Melancthon County, Ontario. A scene in Witness, where "Building the Barn" can be heard, depicts many people with one love coming together to achieve incredible tasks. Symbiosis is bliss. I hope you enjoy this.
My Winter Cave Adventure
As we do every winter, Gizmo and I journeyed out to a circuit of caves that, in much warmer weather, is all but a 35 minute bike ride from my front door. With three feet of snow lying on top of the mile-long distance between the highway and the first set of caves however, this can take much longer. And it certainly did.
Campfire Closing (Let It Be)
While taking my Woodbadge II leadership course through Scouts Canada, many of us came together with our ideas for how to host the Saturday night campfire ceremony for all attendees, at Blue Springs Scout Reserve.
In the days leading up to the course, and with Rememberance Day around the corner, I have only recently started to appreciate the power of one certain statement.
Let it be.
With the state of the world the way it is right now, the conflicts, the suffering and the political instabilities in so many places, there are still people like us that give our time to future generations, with the hope that they too will see that what really matters is the good in all of us, through the Scouting movement.
And with that we 'Let It Be', because there and then, surrounded by our fellow Scouters, is what mattered. And so we swayed together, sang together, and Let It Be...
A Day in Meat Cove, Nova Scotia
We had just landed in Meat Cove about an hour ago, during a 2 week road trip of Eastern Canada. Rachel had an itch that severely needed to be scratched - a painting itch! So, with the coleman stove fired up and dinner on the way, we watched the sun go down for hours in one of the most beautiful settings this country has to offer.
